You have been unsuccessful because magic does not work. It’s just fantasy. A blue moon is simply the second full moon in a month. It has no significance other than that. Just statistical. Mercury also doesn’t help you. It’s a ball of rock. I’m not sure why you think the planets would change anything at all, but chances are you’ve been reading a bunch of fiction and taking it as fact. You need to learn to tell the difference.

Firstly, not all magicians use moon or planetary phases in their workings. Secondly, though in that same vein, the type of magic you are practicing might have an influence on what is deemed “effective.” Some types of magic, for example, might demand you do lots of preparation, or use strong visualizations, or appeal to the right gods, or any other number of things.

Speakings as a hoodoo practitioner, which is relatively informal, here are some tips and observations that would apply to my own practice:

If the spell is on another person, doing direct work (like sprinkling powders for them to walk through or dousing oils around their home) is substantially better than candle work. If the person is unavailable and candle work is the only option, it is a generally held belief that using figural candles and items containing your targets DNA are the strongest ways to work the spell. In a lust spell, using their pubic hair or an excretion of the crotch area like semen or menses or urine is considered best.

Fridays are the best days to cast love or lust magic. Casting during a Venus hour (according to the system of planetary hours) offers further enhancement.

It’s important not to think contrary thoughts to the spell’s intent either during the casting or while you’re waiting for it to work. In a lust spell, this might mean avoiding any thoughts of repulsion or disgust toward the target of the working.

Finally, it’s good practice to do a divination before a spell cast in order to determine if the spell you have in mind would do any good. If not, you may have to propose another spell and see if you get better results from that. If nothing is showing favorable potential, it might indicate that the spells you’ve proposed aren’t actually getting to the heart of the problem and you will need to consider a different approach.
