I have a couple questions about omens in candle burning during the casting of spells. I know there are people who don’t believe in magic or omens, but for those that do believe or at least have some knowledge of the matters:
On a glass encased candle, what does it mean when you end up with lines of wax and herbs left on the glass after the candle has burned out? They aren’t in complete rings, but in half or quarter circles.
And regarding the sparking of candles, I have heard a couple different theories relating usually to someone or something talking, but would like to know any other possible opinions or knowledge of what it is. The other day I was burning candles for 3 related honey-jar spells, and though I had used the types of candles and dressing before, on that day they ALL began to flicker, pop and fizz like fireworks! They did not do it again the next day, so I was wondering what that was about if anyone can guess.
Thank you everyone!
I practice the religion of Vodou and the magic of Hoodoo. If something is left in the candle it simply means it did not melt completely. Don’t look to much into what a candle does while it is burning. Just look for the outcome. How my candles burn have not affect on the outcome of the work. The only thing I every notice that had any significance is weather the candle burns slow or fast. The speed determined how fast the work can to fruition. Remember rootwork is all about the end product not how you got there. Have fun and don’t worry about it! Have faith and trust your magic will work, that’s all you need.
Well, I was always told by my Grandmere that when a candle pops and fizzes it is either faries playing with you, or the dead are preasent and enjoy your working. As to the half circles or half moons in the herbs? Well, that can mean many things, but was it at a point in your working, like the half-way point? It might just be the candle spirit telling you that you are almost done or that you need to continue this working for a longer period of time, if it wasn’t at the half-way point. I would re-do the working, thank the spirits/orishas for their past help, and ask them to continue to work for you..or maybe at that point you can add something you may have missed, forgot or new information regarding your reasons for this working the spirits/orishas might need to know to help you better.
Good Luck sister,

They mean you have just watched Cinderella with your friends at your 6th birthday party.
There’s Plenty of that sort of thing in the Bible too, PLENTY!
I won’t be able to fully answer all your questions, but I can give the second half a shot. Since your spells are voodoo/hoodoo-based, I would guess the flickering/popping, etc. was a spirit trying to communicate something to you. Not a ghost, but one of the beings related to your particular beliefs. Since you were doing a honey-jar spell, I’ll assume it was to draw someone to you, or something in the love-spell family. It’s possible the spirit was trying to warn you off your choice, that the person might not be right for you. Of course it might have been trying to tell you the opposite. I’d suggest proceed with care, and keep your eyes open for other signs.
As for the glass-encased candles, I’m just not sure. If you were doing a money/luck spell, I’d say the lines represented the moon, which means luck. If it was another kind of spell, I’m simply not sure, sorry.
Add on:
Since the honey pot spell wasn’t love, perhaps one of those editor/book folks is a practicioner of some sort as well, protected from outside influences. I’ve had a friend have a similar result when trying to cast a spell(positive) on me.
The herbs on the glass I’ll agree represent good fortune coming, probably in the near future.
i do not do candle magic, but i do make candles for magick rituals. and i am a Celtic Pagan.
the sparking of the candle can be an omen, or it can mean that there is water in the wax. or i very high sterene content.
i use a lot of sterene in my candles to make them burn longer make the wax dry harder and to make the flame burn higher.
sorry but this is the best i can give you
the outcome means you do not belong to Christ!
