No magic is evil. Magic is a force, a tool, that can be used for good or for ill. However, the people using the magic and their intent can be evil. How you define evil is up to you, but I’d say you can do anything you want with magic as long is it doesn’t harm anyone or deny anyone their own free will. Anything beyond that is on your own conscious.
It depends on which reality you follow.
In my faith, it’s not evil at all. For a fundamentalist Christian, it might, and probably would be viewed as evil.

No, candle magic, like any other magic, is not evil. In fact, it has been used for many years by people following mainstream faiths.
A book you might find interesting is “The Master Book of Candle Burning” by Henry Gamache. I haven’t read the book yet, but I believe it is written from a Christian perspective.
