Candle Etiquette in Wiccan Rituals?

I was doing some research for my rituals and i came across an interesting tidbit: it is apparently rude to blow out a candle. The way that it was put was "it is disrespectful to use one element (air) to put out another (fire)", and said it was probably best to use a candle snuffer so as to keep respect to the candle and not weaken the magic put forth into the ritual.
So my question is this: what do you suppose i make a candle snuffer out of?

I'm looking into spirituality/Paganism and some of the rituals would really, really help me out. Unfortunately my Dad isn't really accepting of my beliefs (and he won't let me light candles in the house) and my Mum is still uncertain, but she's starting to come around. Plus I'm a student on a really tight budget! Can I do rituals/chants without candles, casting circles, smudging, or anything like that?
