Different strokes for different folks. Personally I find most rituals/candle magick, etc, distracting and diverts me away from what I really want to achieve – tarot, etc, as well I find doesn’t work for me.
But then I also feel I can get a lot more done if I forsake most of that stuff and just meditate and focus hard enough. There isn’t really a “which works better” unless you have your own favouritism.

It is more important to have understanding than experience. Candle magick is considered one of the easiest forms of spell-casting, but as long as you have the desire and will, you can accomplish your goal regardless of which spell you use.

    1. Exhaust all mundane options.
    2. Divine what structure would work best (Tarot, Bibliomancy, whatever form of divination you best like)
    3. Perform Magick.

Go with the full meal deal. If a thing’s worth doing it’s worth doing well. Besides, candles are a fire hazard.
And don’t worry about experience. Some people have been casting spells for years and years and it don’t work for them either.
